Last week my son returned home from a two year mission in Brazil, for our church. His return has taught me a lot of things about health and building immunity. When he left two years ago, he was a boy. He returned a young man who has matured with a new perspective on his life, his purpose and his relationship with God. He returned with new knowledge about the world and confidence in who he is. So what happened in between the day he left and the day he returned? LIFE happened. Each experience built upon the last. Some tore him down and others built him back up again. Through each choice and experience, he learned about his ability to make it through really difficult life experiences physically, emotionally and spiritually. He learned how to be in difficult relationships and be true to himself and his divine purpose. Every choice, every thought, every action, every moment was part of creating what he is in this moment.
This is true for all of us. We are all in the process of becoming.
How does this relate to nutrition and immunity? It helped me stop and think about where I want my health to be in two years. Where do I want it to be in two months and in 10 years? Every choice I make today, tomorrow and every day after, is creating the state of my physical health for my future me. I am turning 47 soon, and I keep hearing people say how it is all down hill from here. I do not want to experience that, so I am first choosing to change my belief. I no longer choose to believe that getting older means slowing down, more aches and pains, more weight, and more risk of serious illness. Instead, I choose to believe that I getter stronger and more energetic every day, my immune system is getting stronger and serves me well. As I choose these beliefs, my actions will align with my beliefs. Did you know that your beliefs affect your physical body? How many times have you experienced some self-fulfilling prophecy such as - everyone is sick, it's only a matter of time until I get sick. Does believing you are not going to get sick guarantee you will never get sick? No...but I believe it gives the body extra support against illness when our beliefs are positive!
What can you do today to begin to create an build a healthy you, one year from now, ten years from now or even twenty years from now?
*Drink more water?
*Eat more fruits and vegetables?
*Choose vegetables over onion rings when you are eating out?
*Choose broiled or baked over fried?
*Get more rest?
*Take good supplements...every day?
*Exercise more regularly?
*Take time to connect spiritually every day?
*Take breaks when you need them?
*Speak positively about yourself?
*Be and do your best and let go of the outcome?
What one thing will you choose to do today to create and be your best self? Remember every choice builds upon each other. CREATE the physical health you want, one wonderful choice at a time!
